The sector of woodworking and manufactures of furniture is divided on two large branches which are closely bound among themselves: on the one hand, it is wood and production from wood which grows out primary processing of wood raw material and release of elements for furniture and a building industry (windows, doors, wood plates, etc.); on the other hand is a furniture, and, this branch directly is inverted to the final market.

Woodworking and a pulp and paper industry - one of the oldest and major industries of Byelorussia.
The general area of the state wood fund of Republic makes 9,2 million hectares, the area covered with a wood - 7,8 million hectares.
The large forest of Republic makes 37, 86 % from the general{common} territory. An annual gain of wood - about 25 million in m3, the common stock of plantings - 1,3 billion in m3.

Within Great Domestic war (1941 - 1945) woodworking and have been put to a pulp and paper industry a huge loss.
